Leaders of the South-South People’s United Forum (SSPUF) in Lagos State have initiated an aggressive grassroots campaign to garner support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. At a stakeholders’ consultative session in Ikeja, the forum resolved to mobilize South-South indigenes across the state’s local governments, Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), wards, and community units to back APC candidates. The forum aims to leverage its local networks to secure substantial votes for the party.

The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Samuel Egube, commended the forum’s proactive approach, citing the significant turnout as evidence of the community’s commitment to the APC. Egube emphasized the importance of sustaining policy continuity to consolidate infrastructural and socio-economic progress in Lagos. He urged community executives to accelerate precinct-level outreach and present the administration’s achievements directly to residents.

The Lagos West Senatorial District Leader of the SSPUF, Chief Lucky Bobaselu Egba, asserted that the South-South bloc could deliver up to 500,000 votes for the APC with adequate logistics and alignment. Egba attributed the community’s success to the state’s commercial climate, which has provided equal access to public education, enterprise hubs, employment, and property ownership. He appealed to non-indigenes to reciprocate the hospitality shown to them by voting for the APC.

The Lagos West Senatorial Woman Leader of the APC, Mariam Anita Balogun, stressed that political mobilization must translate into valid ballots. She directed women leaders to identify members with uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and facilitate transfers for traders and artisans registered far from their workplaces. Balogun advised members to set aside internal friction and focus on targeted community canvassing.

The State Chairman of SSPUF, Otunba Isaac Emiyede, stated that the meeting aimed to audit local operational hurdles and design strategies for broader zonal tours in other senatorial districts. Emiyede reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to the APC’s standard-bearers, including President Bola Tinubu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat. The engagement reflects a wider strategy by APC-aligned socio-cultural groups in Lagos to activate polling-unit structures early.

The SSPUF’s operational network spans all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs, providing a robust framework for mobilization. Egube urged executives to build inter-ethnic coalitions statewide, while Egba appealed to party leaders to foster mutual reconciliation. The forum’s efforts aim to protect the progress made in Lagos and promote continued development.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by APC-aligned groups in Lagos to focus on voter registration, PVC retrieval, and civic turnout ahead of the 2027 polls. Key stakeholders are working together to ensure a strong showing for the party in the upcoming elections.
