The African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership in the South-West has reaffirmed its support for the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a press statement dated November 2, 2026, the zonal leadership, signed by Akin Omole, the South-West National Vice Chairman, alongside the six ADC state chairmen, declared their commitment to supporting all ADC candidates contesting elective positions across the region.
The South-West ADC leadership dismissed reports of an alleged division within the party's regional leadership, insisting that there was no disagreement between its officials and the party's presidential candidate. According to the statement, there is "no rift, division or leadership crisis within ADC South-West." The leadership reiterated its backing for Atiku, citing his political experience, leadership, and national vision.
The ADC South-West leadership explained that a meeting held in Ibadan on September 4, 2026, was organised to discuss strategies for strengthening the party's structures and securing electoral support for Atiku and other ADC candidates. Discussions at the meeting centred on political strategy, grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and organisational coordination.
The regional leadership also reaffirmed its confidence in Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola's political coordination across the South-West. The statement maintained that the gathering was not organised against the presidential candidate, the national leadership, or any individual within the party.
The ADC South-West leadership dismissed reports that it held a virtual meeting with Atiku on September 5, 2026, to resolve an alleged internal crisis. The leadership described the reports as an attempt by political opponents to create divisions and weaken the party's cohesion.
The party leadership said it was intensifying grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement, membership expansion, and efforts to consolidate its structures across the South-West. It listed its electoral targets to include the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly elections in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states.
The statement concluded with the declaration: "ADC is united. There is no rift. There is no division. We are working together to deliver the South-West for Atiku Abubakar and all ADC candidates in 2027." It also reiterated the party's slogan: "One Party. One Family. One Mission. Victory in 2027."
