The Ghana Publishing Company Limited has launched a crackdown on the circulation of fake gazettes, which has resulted in revenue losses due to unauthorized middlemen. According to Managing Director Nana Kwasi Boaitey Esq., some individuals, known as 'goro boys', collect money from customers, purchase gazettes, and then create fake documents, presenting them as official. This practice not only exposes customers to fraudulent transactions but also deprives the company of legitimate revenue.

The company identified this practice as a loophole affecting its financial position when it assumed office in February 2025. To address the problem, a public education and media campaign was launched to warn Ghanaians against fake gazettes and encourage customers to access services through authorized channels. This intervention has helped block revenue leakages associated with the activities of middlemen.

An electronic gazette platform has been introduced, allowing customers to apply for gazettes online without physically visiting offices. This digital platform aims to improve customer experience, promote transparency, and make services more accessible. Customers are urged to use official channels when applying for gazettes to avoid falling victim to fraudulent intermediaries.

The Managing Director disclosed that the company has been working to protect the integrity of official government publications and safeguard its revenue. The public education campaign aims to raise awareness about the risks associated with fake gazettes and the benefits of using authorized channels.

Nana Kwasi Boaitey Esq. made these disclosures during the Government Accountability Series at the Presidency. The company's efforts to clamp down on fake gazettes and prevent revenue leakages are ongoing, with a focus on promoting transparency and accountability.

The introduction of the electronic gazette platform is part of broader efforts to modernize the company's services and improve customer experience. By providing a secure and efficient way to apply for gazettes, the company aims to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions and increase revenue.

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited's Managing Director emphasized the importance of using official channels when applying for gazettes. Customers can access the company's services through its website or physical offices, ensuring a secure and transparent process.
