The Semaine nationale de la culture (SNC) has announced a nationwide tour for the laureates of SNC Bobo 2026. The tour, scheduled from October 13 to November 16, 2026, will take 116 artists and ensembles to six cities across Burkina Faso. This initiative aims to bring the talents revealed by the cultural biennale closer to the population and make culture a factor of national cohesion. The tour is organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism.
The tour will visit six cities: Cinkansé, Zorgho, Pô, Kongoussi, Yako, and Dano. Each stop will feature a diverse program, including a gastronomic fair showcasing Burkinabé culinary skills and rich gastronomy. Art exhibitions will also be part of the program, while literary activities such as conferences and literary cafes will provide spaces for exchange and reflection on literature and cultural issues. The highlight of each stop will be a grand evening of musical and dance performances.
A total of 116 artists and ensembles will participate in this cultural caravan. Specifically, 102 artists are involved in performing arts, 3 in visual arts, 4 in culinary art, and 6 in literature. These numbers reflect the diversity of talents from SNC Bobo 2026 and the structure's desire to give broader visibility to different domains of artistic and cultural creation.
The director-general of SNC, Christiane Sanon/Coulibaly, explained that the tour is part of the mission to promote and valorize the diversity of national cultural and artistic expressions. She emphasized that a laureate should not only be a name on the list of winners but also an ambassador of Burkinabé culture. The tour aims to make culture a space for encounter, dialogue, and social cohesion.
In the current national context, where there is a need to strengthen ties between populations, the SNC seeks to rely on culture as a factor of unity. Culture reminds us of what we share: languages, rhythms, dances, stories, know-how, gastronomy, traditions, and our capacity to live together in diversity. The SNC has invited the media to accompany the tour and make it a cultural and media event at the national and international levels.
The success of the tour also depends on its media visibility. The SNC has called on public and private media, radios, televisions, and digital communication actors to appropriate this initiative. The goal is to tell another image of Burkina Faso: a Burkina Faso that creates, transmits, and gathers around its culture.
The SNC has finally invited the populations of the six cities to mobilize and welcome the artists, taking part in the scheduled events. Through this tour, the SNC aims to prolong the spirit of the biennale beyond Bobo-Dioulasso, giving the laureates of the 2026 edition the opportunity to share their art with the populations.
