The Sikasso region in Mali recently celebrated Solidarity Week, focusing on people living with disabilities. The event was sponsored by Seydou Diallo, the regional director of taxes. During the celebration, the governor of the region, Mme Kanté Marie Claire Dembélé, emphasized the importance of solidarity and mutual aid in Malian society. She encouraged authorities to support people living with disabilities and urged them to cultivate solidarity among themselves.

The regional godmother, Mme Berthé Ourokiatou Coulibaly, expressed her joy at the initiative and praised the commitment of the Transition authorities and regional officials. She stated that people living with disabilities deserve the donations and encouraged others to follow suit. Moumini Diarra, president of people living with disabilities, appreciated the donations, which he believes will improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries.

The event featured the symbolic handover of a Jakarta motorcycle to Djeneba Ouattara, a resident of Wayerma II district, as well as the distribution of soap bags and cartons to other beneficiaries. Several administrative and local authorities attended the ceremony, including the governor's cabinet director, Bernard Coulibaly, and the prefect of the Sikasso Circle, Amadou Gassambé.

She invited authorities to support people living with disabilities, regardless of their level of responsibility. The governor also encouraged people living with disabilities to cultivate solidarity among themselves.

The event was part of the 31st edition of the Solidarity and Fight Against Exclusion Month. Similar events were held in other regions of Mali, including Mopti, where the regional council discussed its budget, and Koulikoro, where the governor donated food kits to associations and traditional legitimacy.

In Sikasso, the celebration of Solidarity Week is part of a broader effort to promote social cohesion and support vulnerable populations. The regional authorities have been actively engaged in initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of people living with disabilities and promoting their inclusion in society.

The event concluded with a call to action, encouraging authorities and citizens to continue supporting people living with disabilities and promoting solidarity throughout the year.
