Shell has expanded its presence in Morocco's southern provinces by tripling the number of its service stations to 40. This development is a result of a joint venture between Vivo Energy Maroc, which handles the distribution and marketing of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, and Myher Holding, a Moroccan industrial group. The expansion was announced on the first anniversary of Morocco's Unity Day.

The joint venture, Sopetrole, was established in 2019 with the goal of increasing Shell's presence in the region. Myher Holding operates in various sectors, including cement, concrete, logistics, and construction. The company's diverse portfolio makes it a significant player in Morocco's economy and a key partner for Shell in the region. The expansion of Shell's service stations is part of Morocco's broader efforts to boost investment and economic growth in its southern provinces.

The new service stations are strategically located in cities such as Laâyoune, Dakhla, Boujdour, Es-Smara, Akhfennir, Tarfaya, and along the Bir Gandouz-Guerguerat axis. These stations offer a range of services, including Shell Select stores, lubricants, and automotive services. The expansion aims to meet the growing needs of residents and economic actors in the region for mobility and services.

Since 2019, the development of the service station network has created over 850 jobs in the southern provinces. The construction work has also mobilized local companies, contributing to the regional economic activity. The growth of Shell's presence in the region is seen as a significant investment in Morocco's economic development.

Matthias de Larminat, CEO of Vivo Energy Maroc, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting the development of Morocco's southern provinces. He highlighted the strategic partnership with Myher Holding as a key factor in the expansion of Shell's service stations. The company aims to continue investing in the region and contributing to its economic growth.

Tarik Barakat, CEO of Sopetrole, noted that the tripling of service stations from 13 to 40 is a significant milestone. He emphasized the company's focus on improving the quality, accessibility, and diversity of services offered to customers. The partnership between Vivo Energy Maroc and Myher Holding is built on their complementary expertise and their shared goal of supporting Morocco's economic development.

The expansion of Shell's service stations in Morocco's southern provinces is part of the company's long history in the country, dating back to 1922. Vivo Energy Maroc has a storage capacity of 21,905 cubic meters of fuel and operates over 420 service stations. The company employs 510 people and offers various payment methods, including Shell card payments.
