The Société Béninoise d'Énergie Électrique (SBEE) has announced that several areas in Benin will experience power outages on September 24, 2026, from 10 am to 3 pm. The outages, which will last a maximum of five hours, are due to scheduled maintenance work on the national electrical network. Abomey-Calavi's Womê, Tankpê, Alègléta, Yémandjro, and Maria-Gléta, as well as Porto-Novo's Sèmè-Kpodji, Djrêgbé, Owodé, Kétonou, and Awloumin, will also be affected.
The northern regions of Benin will not be spared, with areas such as Parakou, Dassa, Natitingou, Djougou, Bohicon, and Kandi experiencing power outages. In Parakou, sectors like Pèrèrè, Sontou, Alafiarou, Tchori, Boko, Sirarou, and Tamarou will be impacted. Dassa's Ayédjoko, Gobé, Atchakpa, Savè Ville, Diho, Ouoghi, and Montéo will also experience outages.
In addition to the previously mentioned areas, other localities in the north, such as Natitingou's Tanguiéta, Cobly, Tantéga, Matérie, Nodi, and Gouandé, will also be affected. Djougou's Batoulou, Béléfoungou, Sosso, Kolokondé, and Foumbéa, as well as Bohicon's Goho, Abomey, Adandokpodji, Djidja, and Agounan, will experience power outages.
There are exceptions to the scheduled outage times in Cotonou, the economic capital. Cotonou-East's Sêkandji, PK10, PK11, and Sêyivê will experience outages from 11 am to 2 pm. Cotonou-West's Camp Guézo, Gbégamey, the French Embassy area, CNHU Hospital, and Patte d'Oie will be affected from 10 am to 3 pm.
The SBEE has advised residents in the affected areas to consider all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period, even if power appears to have been restored before the scheduled time. The company's technical teams will be on standby to minimize the duration of the outages and accelerate the restoration of power.
