The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) announced that Saudi Arabia has approved an additional 10,000 Hajj slots for Nigeria for the 2027 pilgrimage. This brings Nigeria's total Hajj allocation to 60,000 slots, up from 50,000. The development follows diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. The additional 10,000 slots have been distributed, with 7,500 allocated to State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, and Commissions, and 2,500 to seven lead tour operator companies. He emphasized NAHCON's commitment to ensuring Hajj remains affordable and accessible to Nigerians while maintaining high service standards.

Ambassador Yusuf expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and guidance in the Hajj sector. He also thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Government of Saudi Arabia, particularly Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, and Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Abdul Fattah bin Sulaiman Mashat.
