The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced a one-off change to its grant payment schedule for November, citing the need to accommodate municipal local government elections on November 4. This adjustment applies exclusively to November and does not signal a permanent alteration to the standard social grant payment dates. Sassa has confirmed that grant payments will resume as usual from December onwards.

According to the revised schedule, Older persons' grants will be paid on October 30, Disability grants on November 2, and Children's grants on November 3. Sassa emphasized that beneficiaries should take note of these specific dates for November, as they differ from the usual payment schedule. The agency assured that grant payment dates from December through March 2027 remain unchanged.

Sassa has urged beneficiaries to rely on official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid being misled by unverified messages or speculation regarding changes to payment dates. Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants by November 5 are advised to contact their nearest Sassa office, as their payments may have been suspended due to failure to conduct a review.

The agency reminded beneficiaries who have received review notifications to respond promptly, warning that failure to comply with the review process will result in grant suspensions. Sassa stressed that reviews are essential to safeguard the integrity of the social assistance system, ensure grants are paid to qualifying individuals, and prevent irregular or fraudulent payments.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to proactively monitor their grant status using Sassa's self-service WhatsApp line by sending a message saying "Hi" to 082-601-0111. This service allows beneficiaries to check if their grant is under review and access other digital services, including eLife Certification and new grant applications.

Sassa also advised beneficiaries to notify the agency immediately of any personal or financial changes, such as updates to marital status, income, or contact numbers. Failure to update details with Sassa may result in missed important notifications and failure to respond to requests requiring attention.

In conclusion, Sassa has made it clear that the adjusted payment schedule for November is a one-off arrangement and that beneficiaries should be aware of the specific payment dates for this month. The agency continues to emphasize the importance of using official communication channels and updating personal details to avoid disruptions to grant payments.
