Samsung Electronics Maghreb Arab has launched Samsung Wallet in Morocco, enabling users of compatible Galaxy devices to make payments directly with their smartphones or smartwatches. The digital wallet was announced at a press conference in Casablanca, attended by Ahmed Rahhou, Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation, and Administrative Reform. This launch is a significant step in Morocco's digital payment landscape.

Samsung Wallet allows users to register eligible bank cards in a dedicated interface, making contactless payments possible with merchants who have compatible terminals. The service aims to reduce the need for physical bank cards. Banque Populaire, Mastercard, and Visa are collaborating with Samsung to support this initiative. This move aligns with Morocco's growing trend of mobile payment and digital financial services.

Security is a key aspect of Samsung Wallet, which relies on Samsung Knox, a security platform integrated into compatible Galaxy devices. The service also features authentication mechanisms to protect access to personal and financial data. Hongseok Lee, President of Samsung Electronics Maghreb Arab, emphasized that the goal is to make payments as natural as using a smartphone or smartwatch.

Samsung Wallet goes beyond contactless payments, allowing users to centralize various digital elements, such as boarding passes, loyalty cards, and coupons. The app can also store digital keys for certain vehicles and devices, enabling users to access them with their smartphones. However, the availability of these features depends on the country, device model, and compatible services.

The launch of Samsung Wallet expands Banque Populaire's range of digital payment solutions. Hassan Debbagh, Deputy General Manager of Groupe Banque Centrale Populaire, highlighted the group's commitment to innovation and digitalization of payments. This collaboration marks a new step in providing simple, smooth, and secure payment solutions.

Samsung Wallet will be gradually available to owners of compatible Galaxy devices and eligible bank cards from partner institutions. The service is expected to enhance Morocco's digital payment ecosystem, providing users with a convenient and secure way to make transactions. This launch is part of Samsung's strategy to offer Galaxy users simple, secure, and practical digital services.

The introduction of Samsung Wallet in Morocco reflects the growing importance of mobile payments in the country. With its robust security features and user-friendly interface, the service is poised to gain popularity among Moroccans. As the digital payment landscape continues to evolve, Samsung Wallet is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping the future of mobile payments in Morocco.
