The Accra High Court has deferred the case of Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe, who is facing allegations of abetting the publication and dissemination of false information through social media. The court adjourned the matter to Monday, October 5, 2026, due to the ongoing conference of judges and magistrates that affected the scheduled proceedings. As a result, Ms Baffoe will remain in custody until the case returns before the court.

The case involves allegations that Ms Baffoe acted as a liaison for a UK-based TikTok personality, Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof. According to the police, Ms Baffoe assisted in recruiting individuals to redistribute videos allegedly produced by Ms Kodua across different social media platforms. The police also allege that financial transactions between the two women formed part of the arrangement.

The prosecution had opposed Ms Baffoe's release on bail, maintaining that she remained necessary to the continuing investigations into the allegations. The court consequently directed the Republic to accelerate its investigations. Ms Baffoe's legal representatives had strongly contested the prosecution's position and urged the court to grant her bail, arguing that she was presumed innocent and that the State had not established adequate grounds to warrant her continued detention.

The defence team, led by Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, questioned the basis for the prosecution's contention that Ms Baffoe could compromise the investigation or influence potential witnesses if released. They also brought her family circumstances to the attention of the court, particularly her responsibilities as a mother of three children. The defence has subsequently indicated that it intends to challenge the High Court's decision through an appeal.

The defence has questioned the necessity of keeping Ms Baffoe in custody on the basis of concerns surrounding electronic evidence. Her lawyers have pointed out that the police had already taken possession of her mobile phones and had reportedly examined information contained on the devices. The defence has maintained that the remaining investigative activity principally concerns individuals allegedly involved in redistributing the material.

A group of women organised a demonstration in Accra on September 29, calling for Ms Baffoe's release, while concerns have been raised publicly about the impact of her detention on her children. The allegations against Ms Baffoe remain matters before the court and have not been established by a final judicial determination. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

For now, the case remains before the Accra High Court, with Monday, October 5, 2026, set as the next date for proceedings. Ms Baffoe will remain in custody pending that hearing and any further determination by the court regarding her application for liberty. The case has generated public discussion, with many calling for her release.
