Former Rwandan President Pasteur Bizimungu has approached Kigali Bank (BK) for financial assistance to complete a hotel project in Rubavu, near Lake Kivu. The project, which began with BK's collaboration, aims to create a four-star hotel with various amenities. Bizimungu expressed his gratitude for the bank's previous support and requested continued assistance to ensure the project's timely completion. He emphasized that the hotel will not only boost tourism but also create employment opportunities for 300-400 people.

The hotel project, valued at over 10 billion Rwandan francs, will feature various facilities, including hotel rooms, four restaurants, and a conference room that can accommodate over 1,000 people. The project also includes a designated area for tourists to appreciate the scenic views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Kivu. Bizimungu noted that the hotel's primary focus will be on catering to tourists and providing a relaxing environment, while also offering standard hotel services.

Bizimungu revealed that four investors are currently in discussions to collaborate on the hotel's operations once it is completed. He stressed that the hotel's success will rely heavily on its strategic location in Rubavu, a city known for its tourism industry. The project's completion is expected to contribute significantly to Rwanda's economic growth and create new job opportunities.

In addition to the hotel project, Bizimungu disclosed that he has been in talks with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to expand conference facilities to rural areas. This initiative aims to promote tourism and economic growth in these regions by enabling them to host international conferences and events.

Bizimungu's request for financial assistance from Kigali Bank highlights the importance of private sector support for large-scale projects in Rwanda. The bank's involvement in the hotel project demonstrates its commitment to fostering economic growth and development in the country. The project's success is expected to have a positive impact on Rwanda's tourism industry and overall economy.

The hotel project is expected to be a significant addition to Rwanda's tourism infrastructure, offering a unique blend of luxury and scenic beauty. Once completed, the hotel will provide a new destination for tourists and business travelers, further solidifying Rwanda's reputation as a premier tourist destination in the region.

During the meeting, Bizimungu and his wife, Seraphine Bizimungu, received a gift from Kigali Bank in recognition of their loyalty as customers. The bank's gesture underscores its appreciation for long-standing relationships and its commitment to supporting the country's economic development.
