The Rwandan police, in collaboration with other authorities, have urged citizens to continue working together to prevent crimes and protect children from drugs. Kamanzi noted that parents have a crucial role in preventing their children from engaging in drug abuse, which can lead to a life of crime.
Kamanzi also warned traders, particularly those selling construction materials, to be cautious when selling items that can be used as drugs, such as glue, thinner, and essence. He emphasized that using these substances as drugs is against the law and can have severe consequences. The police spokesperson urged traders to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The Southern Province Police and Community Liaison Officer, SP Harima Nyirimpuhwe, appealed to citizens to continue playing a role in preventing crimes and reporting individuals involved in drug trafficking. He encouraged citizens to provide information on traders, users, or those hiding drugs with the intention of selling them secretly. Nyirimpuhwe emphasized that this information will help the authorities to track and prosecute those involved.
The Busasamana Sector Mayor, Bizimana Egide, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between local authorities and other stakeholders in preventing crimes. He noted that there have been positive results, particularly in the fight against drugs and homemade liquor. Egide acknowledged that while there is still work to be done, the campaign has led to a noticeable reduction in crime.
Some residents of Nyanza district have expressed their appreciation for the crime prevention efforts, citing a reduction in crimes and family conflicts. Nzayisenga Emmanuel, a resident, shared his experience of struggling with homemade liquor, which had caused him health problems and family conflicts. However, he noted that his life has improved since the campaign began.
Munyambonwa John, a construction materials trader, acknowledged that some customers buy items such as glue, thinner, and essence, which can be used as drugs. He emphasized the importance of traders being responsible and reporting suspicious activities to the authorities. Mukama Bosco, a resident of Busasamana sector, shared his experience of struggling with drug addiction, which had left him with a physical disability. He warned others about the dangers of drugs and encouraged them to seek help.
