Rwanda generated $11.8 million from agricultural exports between September 14 and 18, 2026, according to data from the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB). The country shipped 8,391 metric tonnes of agricultural products to international markets during the five-day period. This performance highlights the growing contribution of agricultural commodities to Rwanda's export earnings.
Coffee emerged as the leading individual revenue earner during the period, with exports amounting to 802 metric tonnes and generating $5.55 million. This represents nearly half of the total agricultural export revenue recorded during the period. The significant earnings from coffee exports demonstrate the continued importance of the crop to Rwanda's agricultural sector.
Diversified agricultural products followed with the largest export volume, totaling 6,159 metric tonnes and generating $4.11 million. The category accounted for more than two-thirds of the total reported export volume. Other agricultural products also contributed to the earnings, including fruits, animal products, vegetables, tea, and flowers.
Fruits were exported primarily to the United Arab Emirates and African countries, with 571 metric tonnes generating $558,818. Animal products earned $430,187, with 229 metric tonnes shipped to African markets. Vegetable exports stood at 401 metric tonnes, bringing in $418,641, mainly destined for Great Britain, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and African countries.
Tea exports generated $677,222, with 218 metric tonnes shipped to international markets. Flowers reached markets including South Africa, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, earning $64,527. The diverse range of export destinations and products highlights the breadth of Rwanda's agricultural export basket.
The export figures underline the growing importance of agriculture in Rwanda's efforts to expand export earnings and connect local producers and exporters to markets beyond the country. With $11.8 million earned in just five days, the sector continues to play a crucial role in the country's economy.
