RGM Watch Co. has brought back a forgotten page in American horology with the Model 501-EFB, dedicated to E.F. Bowman, a prominent figure in Pennsylvania's watchmaking tradition. This revival is not just an aesthetic tribute but a continuation of the regional legacy that connects Bowman's history to RGM's founder, Roland G. Murphy. The Model 501-EFB embodies the spirit of an era when watches were designed as precision objects meant to last for generations.

The RGM Model 501-EFB features a 316L stainless steel case made in the United States, measuring 39mm in diameter and 11.3mm in thickness. Its proportions are similar to traditional dress watches, with a lug-to-lug length of 48mm that ensures a balanced presence on the wrist. The case incorporates classic watchmaking codes, including a screwed bezel, conventional lugs, and a domed sapphire crystal on the front.

The watch boasts a 50-meter water resistance, suitable for daily use while maintaining its primary focus on elegance and collectibility. It is paired with an alligator leather strap, 20mm wide, reinforcing its positioning as a dress watch inspired by early 20th-century creations. The dial is a Grand Feu enamel, inspired by a historic Patek Philippe pocket watch from the 1920s made for Ezra F. Bowman & Sons.

The dial's white enamel finish is achieved through high-temperature firing, providing a deep and durable finish. The blue steel hands indicate hours, minutes, and seconds, with an aesthetic directly inspired by vintage pocket watches. A peripheral railway track recalls the railway dials used on many historical American pieces, while a subsidiary seconds counter at 6 o'clock adds a reference to classic watches produced nearly a century ago.

The Model 501-EFB is powered by the ASE 200 automatic micro-rotor caliber from Schwarz Etienne, a Swiss movement reworked and decorated by RGM. This micro-rotor architecture allows for a slim construction while offering automatic winding. The caliber operates at 21,600 alternations per hour and has an 86-hour power reserve, with 33 jewels and a rhodium finish, Côtes de Genève decorations, and visible perlage through the transparent case back.

RGM adds a personalized touch with a solid gold rotor plate bearing Ezra F. Bowman's name, created by the American manufacture. This decoration underscores the connection between contemporary mechanics and local horological history. The RGM Model 501-EFB E.F. Bowman will be officially presented on September 25, 2026, at the Lancaster Watch Weekend, an event held in the region where E.F. Bowman's story began.

The stainless steel version of the watch is priced at $16,950, with variants in gold or platinum available upon request. With this creation, the Pennsylvania-based manufacture transforms a historical episode in American watchmaking into a contemporary timepiece for enthusiasts seeking a piece linked to a particular industrial and artisanal narrative.
