Abia State Governor Alex Otti has called on investors and industrialists who relocated from Aba to other cities to return and invest in the commercial city. He stated that a better investment climate has been created, with ongoing infrastructural development and an improved business environment making Abia a haven for businessmen and women. Otti made this appeal while commissioning a hospitality outfit built by an investor in Aba.
According to Governor Otti, his administration has created a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in any part of the state within the last three years. He attributed the transformation recorded across the state, particularly in Aba, to deliberate efforts to address infrastructural deficits and improve the city’s environment for businesses. The governor recalled the deplorable state of Port Harcourt Road, Aba, before his administration came on board.
Governor Otti described the area as having trees and heaps of debris obstructing the road. He revealed that his administration cleared the debris and fixed the roads in the commercial city, embarking on other infrastructural projects aimed at opening up Aba and creating an enabling environment for economic activities. The governor observed that the commencement of massive infrastructural development in the state would unlock greater investment opportunities for individuals and businesses.
Otti urged investors and residents who had left Aba to return and take advantage of the new opportunities emerging from the city’s transformation. He warned that delaying might make it difficult to secure investment opportunities when others have taken advantage of the available space. The governor assured prospective investors that the state government would continue to provide the infrastructure and conducive environment required for businesses and investments to thrive.
Governor Otti commended the investor and CEO of ORIS Signature, Chief Greg Okafor, for investing in Aba. He stated that the investment would create employment opportunities for the people and increase Abia’s GDP. Otti expressed pride in the fact that Chief Okafor employs thousands of Abia people and those living in Abia. The governor emphasized that job creation is the number one priority for his administration.
The investment by Chief Okafor is expected to add to the employment of Abia people, reduce poverty, increase the internally generated revenue, and provide comfort to travelers and lodgers. The Mayor of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Iheke, extolled Governor Otti for creating an enabling environment that has boosted economic activities in Aba North and Abia State at large. Iheke noted that investors have continued to see Aba as a haven for their investments since the inception of the Otti administration.
