Land Rover has announced that the Range Rover Sport Electric is now available for order in South Africa. The vehicle is the first fully electric version of the performance SUV and can be ordered in Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography, and First Edition specifications. The Range Rover Sport Electric joins the existing plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel Range Rover Sport models in the local market.

The Range Rover Sport Electric is powered by two 260kW electric motors, producing a combined 404kW and 850Nm of torque. This makes it the most torquey Range Rover Sport to date. In Dynamic Launch Mode, the SUV can accelerate from 0-100km/h in as little as 4.3 seconds, matching the performance of the P530 V8 model. The vehicle's torque builds 50% faster than in the Range Rover Electric.

The Range Rover Sport Electric features a number of advanced technologies, including Dynamic Air Suspension, Twin Valve Dampers, All-Wheel Steering, and electronic Active Roll Control. The system can apply up to 1,400Nm of force across each axle, enhancing the vehicle's stability and responsiveness. The vehicle's Adaptive Dynamics system monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second to control body roll and pitch.

The Range Rover Sport Electric has a 118.5kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a WLTP range of up to 609km and a real-world range of up to 535km. The vehicle's 800-volt architecture with split charging enables rapid DC charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10-80% in around 22 minutes. The vehicle's aerodynamically optimized grille and alloy wheels add up to 16 extra kilometers of range at motorway speeds.

The Range Rover Sport Electric has undergone rigorous testing, including in the Carrara marble quarries in Italy and on the Magarigawa Club's private track near Tokyo, Japan. The vehicle's development program aimed to ensure that it could handle a wide range of driving conditions, from polished marble to fine dust. Engineers also developed a dedicated sound design that changes with the drive modes.

The Range Rover Sport Electric is available in a range of trim levels, including the First Edition, which features a unique design with a Satin Wrap and 22-inch alloy wheels. Buyers of the Autobiography model can also use the Range Rover Bespoke commissioning service to personalize their vehicle. Each Range Rover Sport Electric comes with a Battery Digital Twin for proactive maintenance via Software Over the Air.

The Range Rover Sport Electric comes with a comprehensive warranty, including an eight-year or 160,000km warranty on the battery. The vehicle is available to order now on the Land Rover website, although local pricing has not been announced. The Range Rover Sport Electric is manufactured in Solihull, UK, on the same production lines as the plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel models.
