The Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community is set to hold a turbaning ceremony on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Tititlayo Agbaje Memorial Comprehensive High School in Ogun State. The event will feature the turbaning of prominent personalities, including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule. Other notable individuals to be honored include Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i, and former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan.
The ceremony, which will also feature a ₦1 billion fundraising drive for education and empowerment, aims to strengthen educational opportunities and create avenues for empowerment within the community. The fundraising initiative reflects the community’s broader effort to invest in human capital and build a stronger future for its members. Senator Yayi, the Ogun State APC governorship candidate, will serve as the Chief Launcher, while Alhaji Engr Abdul Waheed Yusuf will be the Co-Launcher.
The event will be chaired by Alhaji (Dr) Najeemdeen Usman Yasin, the Bashorun of Offa Kingdom, with High Chief Musibau Adewale Okusajo as the Royal Father of the Day. Other Fathers of the Day include Alhaji G.O. Mustapha, Alhaji Ogunwo Daud Owolabi, and Alhaji Sikiru Alabi Macfoy. The Mothers of the Day will be Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa Balogun, the Ogun State APC Deputy Governorship candidate.
The Guest Speaker at the ceremony will be Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, while Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan and Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i will deliver the keynote addresses. Other special guests include President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo, and Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of MTN Nigeria, Mr Modupe Kadri.
Several individuals will receive titles at the ceremony, including Dr Chief Abdulfattah Owolabi Olufowobi, who will be honored as the Baba Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu, and Alhaji Tajudeen Adegboyega Adebanjo, who will receive the Giwa Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu title. Other recipients include Alhaji Ishaq Sanni, Alhaja Hafsat Gbadamosi, and Chief Ibraheem Ekiyemi.
The titles conferred on the recipients are expected to confer responsibilities on them to contribute to the spiritual, educational, and social development of the Muslim community. The community has a long history of Islam, with Islamic scholarship, worship, and education playing important roles in its development. The growth of Islam in the community has been sustained through the contributions of Imams, scholars, families, and community leaders.
