A 33-year-old man, Patrick Mathenge, drowned while swimming at a popular club's swimming pool in Nanyuki, Laikipia county. According to police, Mathenge had checked into the hotel at about 1pm on September 20 before later proceeding to the swimming pool. He drowned at around 2pm while swimming. Good Samaritans retrieved him from the pool and rushed him to Huruma Hospital in an attempt to save his life.
The police and hospital officials investigated the incident. The body was examined at the hospital, with police reporting that no visible injuries were noted. The body was subsequently preserved at the hospital mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death. Police officers visited the hotel and later proceeded to the hospital as part of the ongoing probe.

Dianah's body was discovered in a lodging room at Kanduyi Market. According to police, concern was raised on September 19, after Dianah failed to wake up. The main door to the premises had also reportedly been locked from outside, while attempts to reach her were unsuccessful. Police officers visited the scene and, together with members of the public, broke open the main entrance before accessing Room 9, where the woman was found.
The police investigation into Dianah's death revealed a disturbing scene. She was found lying lifeless on a bed with her legs apart. She had sustained a deep cut wound on the right side of her head, slightly above the ear. Investigators also reported blood splashes on the walls and a significant amount of blood on the bedding. A bedsheet was reportedly found inserted in her mouth.
The police have arrested three suspects in connection with Dianah's death. The scene was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers from Bungoma South before the body was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination. Police are continuing with investigations to establish the events leading to the suspected murder.
In another incident, police in Kwale county have launched investigations into the murder of a worker whose body was discovered within the premises of a company compound in Taru, Samburu subcounty. The deceased was identified as Safari Ngundi, a staff member at the company. Police visited the scene and found the body of a man lying on his back in a pool of blood.
