President Félix Tshisekedi has instructed his office to launch the second edition of the 2026 national business climate barometer, ensuring sufficient representation of economic operators. This move aims to address the underperformance recorded in the previous edition, which had a score of 37%. The first edition highlighted an unsatisfactory perception of the business environment and identified main constraints faced by economic operators.

The national business climate barometer is an assessment tool measuring the private sector's perception of the economic and administrative environment in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It helps identify main difficulties faced by businesses and measure progress made in implementing reforms aimed at improving their operating conditions. President Tshisekedi's initiative encourages business associations to participate actively and calls on the government to provide necessary cooperation.

Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, stated that President Tshisekedi is regularly briefed on persistent difficulties facing the private sector, revealing significant remaining constraints and insufficient implementation of several reforms undertaken to improve the business climate. The minister added that improving the business climate must translate into tangible results for companies, particularly through the separation of procedures and reduction of administrative delays.

President Tshisekedi also asked the Prime Minister to conduct a rigorous assessment of the implementation status of reforms and assignments relating to the improvement of the business climate. This assessment aims to identify progress made, ongoing actions, and persistent difficulties. The Head of State's instructions aim to ensure that efforts to improve the business climate yield concrete results.

The Democratic Republic of Congo's government has been working to improve the business climate in recent years, despite guidelines issued and efforts made. However, significant challenges persist, and the private sector continues to face difficulties. The second edition of the national business climate barometer is expected to provide valuable insights into the current state of the business environment.

The launch of the second national business climate barometer is part of the government's efforts to address the country's economic challenges. President Tshisekedi's administration is committed to implementing reforms and improving the business environment to attract investment and promote economic growth. The government's actions aim to create a more favorable business climate and stimulate economic development.

The Congolese government has urged business associations to participate actively in the second edition of the national business climate barometer. The government also called on relevant ministries and services to provide necessary cooperation to the "Business Climate" unit. By working together, the government and private sector can identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions to enhance the business environment.
