President John Dramani Mahama has begun his #ResettingGhana tour of the Ahafo Region with the inspection of two newly built Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. The facilities, located in Ahyiaem and Nsuapemkrom, are equipped with medical supplies and staff quarters. This initiative aims to expand universal access to healthcare in the region. The President's tour is part of a broader effort to engage with local communities and assess development projects.

The CHPS compounds were built using funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund. President Mahama directed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) to construct two CHPS compounds, two classroom blocks, and a 24-hour economy market in their respective districts. These projects are being distributed across different communities. The President noted that his administration's decision to uncap the District Assemblies Common Fund and disburse 80% of the funds directly to assemblies has enabled the implementation of such projects.

During the inspection, President Mahama assured residents that patients visiting the CHPS compounds would receive free treatment under the Free Primary Healthcare Programme. He emphasized that the projects are a result of his administration's commitment to decentralizing funds and empowering local assemblies. The President was accompanied by several ministers, including Mahama Ayariga, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Eric Opoku, and Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

The Dormaahemaa, Odeneho Dr Akosua Fima Dwaben II, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for bringing vital development initiatives to the area. The President's visit was also attended by Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, and other regional and district officials. Local healthcare workers were present to showcase the facilities and discuss their operations.

The two CHPS compounds in Ahyiaem and Nsuapemkrom are expected to improve healthcare access for residents in the Tano North Municipality. The facilities are fully equipped to provide basic healthcare services to the local population. President Mahama's tour aims to engage with local communities, assess development projects, and interact with stakeholders.
