President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana will participate in the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum, a three-day event scheduled to take place from October 2-4, 2026, in Alamein, Egypt. The forum aims to bring together African heads of state, business leaders, investors, and innovators to shape the continent's future. The event is co-organized by the Government of Egypt, African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union, and AUDA-NEPAD.

The Alamein Africa Forum is established as a permanent African Business Forum to convene biennially in Egypt. It seeks to become the continent's premier gathering, where political power meets entrepreneurial prowess, bridging established engines of African growth with new sectors defining its future. The forum is expected to attract over twenty heads of state and government representatives, alongside business leaders, bankers, and development institutions.

President Mahama will lead the Ghanaian delegation to the forum, which includes Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare. Other members of the delegation are Hon. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Head and Presidential Advisor for Ghana's 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, and Colonel Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Ghana's Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahel States.

The Alamein Africa Forum will provide a unique opportunity for leaders in politics, business, and policy to shape Africa's growth agenda by aligning policy and investment priorities. The forum aims to mobilize partnerships for implementation and strengthen financing and investment pathways. The private sector is expected to play a crucial role in turning the African Union's Agenda 2063 into a realized infrastructure, jobs, and value-added trade.

Agenda 2063 is the African Union's strategic fifty-year masterplan to transform the continent. The private sector is seen as the core economic engine required to achieve this goal. The Alamein Africa Forum will bring together leaders from across the continent to discuss and implement strategies for Africa's growth and development.

President Mahama's participation in the forum comes after his recent visit to New York, where he declared Ghana is open for business on September 23, 2026. During his visit, he also rang the ceremonial closing bell at the Nasdaq Stock Market. The Ghanaian delegation's attendance at the Alamein Africa Forum is expected to promote Ghana's business and investment opportunities.

The Alamein Africa Forum is a significant event that aims to drive Africa's growth and development through partnerships and investments. With President Mahama's participation, Ghana is poised to play a key role in shaping the continent's future.
