Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi has caught the attention of Premier League teams, including Chelsea and Arsenal, as they look to strengthen their squads in the coming months. The Italian player has been in impressive form for Club Brugge in Belgium, a league that has produced talented players in recent years. Club Brugge's current squad boasts skilled players like Yam Vegilli and Carlos Forbs on the wings.
Tresoldi's goal-scoring record is particularly impressive, with 23 goals and seven assists last season, and 12 goals in 14 games this year. His ability to score goals has raised interest in him, and his stature, at just over six feet, allows him to be decent in the air and physical when needed. However, he does not stand out in terms of physical traits.
Tresoldi's success can be attributed to his exceptional box movement, which enables him to make smart runs into the front post or back post, creating scoring opportunities for his team. His intelligence on the pitch allows him to use his size and nimbleness to hide behind players and score goals. This has resulted in a high number of non-penalty expected goals and shots per 90 minutes.
While Tresoldi excels in the box, he is also capable of contributing outside of it. He often peels off into the center of the pitch, creating opportunities for his wingers, and is skilled at making flicks and passes to help his team. His unselfish nature and ability to play in others make him a valuable asset to any team.
Despite his strengths, Tresoldi has areas for improvement, particularly in his physicality and defensive game. He can get caught out and pushed off the ball easily, but his intelligence and movement allow him to get separation from defenders. He is also aggressive in defensive areas, often pressing forward and trying to win the ball back.
As Premier League teams consider signing Tresoldi, they will need to assess whether he can adapt to the league's demands. His accountability in defensive areas is good, but he can be impatient at times, jumping into tackles early and wanting to attack when he should not. With the right guidance, he could learn to be more patient and effective in the Premier League.
The potential signing of Tresoldi by Chelsea or Arsenal would be a significant move, and teams will need to weigh the benefits and risks of bringing him on board. With his impressive goal-scoring record and intelligent play, he could be a valuable addition to either team.
