The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that one suspected robber was shot dead in a gunfight at Galoway near Agbogboloshie in Accra. The police team encountered the suspects at Galoway Police Barrier, leading to an exchange of gunfire. One of the suspects was shot, while the others fled, abandoning their motorbikes.
The injured suspect was found with an AK-47 assault rifle, serial number 79-HF3014, fitted with a double magazine containing 135 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition were retrieved. The suspect was rushed to the Police Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy.
The police also recovered two unregistered motorbikes, a Royal and an Apsonic, which are being retained as exhibits for further investigations. The recovered firearm and ammunition are also being kept as evidence.
