The Gombe State Police Command has made a breakthrough in the case of the armed robbery and killing of the wife of a serving police officer. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the command arrested two suspects, 20-year-old Muhammad Bashir Sale, alias “Full”, and 18-year-old Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba”, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The incident occurred at Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe, where the suspects allegedly attacked the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri.
The incident occurred at about 4:35 am on September 26, when unidentified persons armed with machetes and cutlasses stormed the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, who is attached to the Safer Highway Patrol. The assailants reportedly attempted to rob Waziri’s wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone. The police said the victim raised the alarm during the attack, prompting one of the assailants to stab her with a machete before fleeing the scene and leaving the handset behind.
The police said the victim was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was unfortunately certified dead. Following the incident, the command commenced an investigation and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible. The police also recovered a sharp knife as an exhibit from one of the suspects.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. The State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe, is currently investigating the case. The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has directed a discreet and thorough investigation to ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to justice.
The Gombe State Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property. The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements, and activities to the nearest police formation. The suspects, both residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, are currently in custody.
