Nigerian fintech company PiggyVest has announced a strategic shift in its focus towards helping users grow their income, as rising living costs and inflation continue to exert pressure on household finances. The company made this disclosure at its 2026 Open House event, held at the National Theatre in Lagos. The event's theme, 'The Future of Wealth is Here', underscored PiggyVest's commitment to evolving its services in response to changing economic conditions.

According to Joshua Chibueze, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of PiggyTech Global, PiggyVest has experienced growth in its user base. However, the rate at which customers save has declined, reflecting the strain on disposable incomes due to inflation. Chibueze emphasized that saving becomes increasingly difficult when disposable income is under pressure. In response, PiggyVest aims to connect users with opportunities that can enhance their earning capacity.

The company's strategic shift is informed by its savings report, which found that only six per cent of respondents expressed satisfaction with their financial situation. Odunayo Eweniyi, Co-founder of PiggyVest, highlighted the need for Nigerians to prioritize financial planning, even when incomes are constrained. Eweniyi encouraged Nigerians to save consistently, regardless of the amount, and integrate financial planning into their daily routines.

Somtochukwu Ifezue, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of PiggyVest, disclosed that the company has rebuilt its application to support its next phase of growth. The revamped platform features joint and children's accounts, as well as a revamped investment offering. Ifezue stated that PiggyVest is seeking to reposition itself as a comprehensive financial platform for households, rather than solely as an individual savings application.

Ifezue emphasized that PiggyVest's investment products are designed to channel household savings into productive activities in the Nigerian economy. Users can invest in instruments such as commercial papers and debt notes issued by local companies. The company's strategy also aims to encourage Nigerians to initiate their financial journeys with small amounts.

The company's focus on financial education and income growth is seen as a response to the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria. By providing users with opportunities to enhance their earning capacity, PiggyVest aims to empower them to take control of their financial lives. The company's commitment to repositioning itself as a broader financial platform reflects its recognition of the evolving needs of its users.

As PiggyVest continues to adapt to the changing economic landscape, its users can expect access to a wider range of financial services and tools. The company's strategic shift towards income growth and financial education is poised to play a significant role in supporting Nigerians in achieving their financial goals.
