Pearl Bank has emerged as a top performer at the 2026 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, held at Kampala Serena Hotel. The bank won the Gold Award for Integrated Report of the Year and the Financial Services Reporting for Banking Services Tier 1 category. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Pearl Bank, which has recently transitioned from PostBank Uganda as part of its five-year strategic agenda.

The FiRe Awards, organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in partnership with the Capital Markets Authority and the Uganda Securities Exchange, aim to recognise organisations demonstrating excellence in financial reporting, governance, sustainability disclosure, and effective use of technology. This year's theme was “Driving Sustainability Reporting through Technology and Innovation”. The awards seek to promote international standards in financial reporting.

ICPAU President CPA Timothy Ediomu commended the Uganda Communications Commission and the Government of Uganda for advancing the country’s ICT transformation. He noted that Uganda began voluntary adoption of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards this year, ahead of mandatory enforcement for key entities by 2028. Ediomu urged organisations to adopt technology, innovation, and early adoption to strengthen transparency, accountability, and investor confidence.

Chief Guest Hon. George William Nyombi, Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission, emphasised the critical role of technology in enabling credible sustainability reporting. He supported the call for early preparation and encouraged organisations to leverage technology to meet international standards. The recognition of Pearl Bank's reporting practices aligns with these efforts.

Pearl Bank's Chief Financial Officer, Peter Ssenyange, welcomed the recognitions as affirmation of the bank’s reporting journey under its new brand. He noted that the integrated report presents a complete picture of financial performance, strategy, governance, and sustainability impact. Ssenyange mentioned that these accolades motivate the bank to continue leveraging technology and innovation to produce reports that meet international standards.

Throughout its transition from PostBank to Pearl Bank, the institution has prioritised continuity for customers while refreshing its identity, digital platforms, and sustainability agenda. The FiRe Awards recognition confirms that the quality of its corporate reporting has kept pace with this transformation. Pearl Bank continues to expand access to financial services through its branch network, agent banking channels, and digital solutions.

Pearl Bank has a history of receiving accolades at the FiRe Awards, including Winner Banking Services General in 2025, 1st runner up Banking Services General, Bronze for Integrated Reporting in 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Pearl Bank’s CFO Peter Ssenyange won the CFO of the Year 2025. The bank's purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans by enabling access to financial services in a sustainable way.
