A multidisciplinary health caravan was organized in the Nabeul region of Tunisia, specifically in the locality of Diar El Hajjaj, within the delegation of Korba. This initiative was undertaken by the Union nationale de la femme tunisienne (UNFT-section de Korba) under the supervision of the direction régionale de la santé. The event was held in coordination with the Association tunisienne de dépistage du cancer du sein and the local hospital of Korba.

The health caravan attracted a significant number of inhabitants from the region and surrounding areas. These individuals benefited from free consultations and medical exams in multiple specialties, including pediatrics, pedopsychiatry, dentistry, orthophony, diabetes, and hypertension. Additionally, services for breast cancer screening were also provided. The event saw a substantial turnout, with people arriving early in the morning to take advantage of the offered services.

According to Hana Mahmoud, the surveillante générale of the local hospital in Korba, nearly 500 people underwent medical examinations during the caravan. This initiative primarily aimed to bring health services closer to the inhabitants of rural areas. Mahmoud emphasized the importance of medical consultations in raising awareness about the significance of a balanced diet and physical activity in preventing various diseases.

The health caravan also offered consultations on diabetes prevention, breastfeeding, and smoking cessation. Furthermore, a free consultation service for smoking cessation is available every Saturday at the local hospital in Korba. This service is part of the efforts to promote public health and encourage individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Ahlam Najjar, an orthophoniste and member of the Korba section of the UNFT, highlighted the importance of this initiative, which aligns with social responsibility. Najjar stressed the need to generalize such events, particularly in rural areas, to promote public health, strengthen prevention, and address the needs of different social categories.

The health caravan provided a range of services, including pediatric and psychiatric care, dental and speech therapy, as well as screenings for diabetes and hypertension. By offering these services, the event helped to raise awareness about various health issues and provided essential medical care to the local population.

The success of the health caravan demonstrates the value of community-led initiatives in promoting public health. By bringing medical services directly to rural areas, such events can help to bridge the healthcare gap and improve health outcomes for local residents. The collaboration between the UNFT, the direction régionale de la santé, and local healthcare providers was instrumental in making this event a success.
