The Excellentia Scholarship program, initiated by First Lady Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi and now institutionalized by the central government, aims to provide full scholarships to outstanding students for university studies in the Democratic Republic of Congo and abroad. Recently, over 200 state graduates from the Sakania pool in Haut-Katanga province were sensitized to the program. The meeting, organized at the Sakania pool, was attended by Inspecteur Principal Provincial (IPP) adjoint Jean Tshiapona.
The objective of the program is to support students who have obtained 65% and above in their state exams. According to IPP adjoint Jean Tshiapona, the program seeks to explain the benefits of the Excellentia Scholarship to the laureates and identify potential candidates. He emphasized that the scholarship covers the entire cost of university studies and that the selection process will be based on academic performance.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students from Sakania territory must have obtained a minimum of 65% in their state exams, a lower threshold compared to the national requirement of 75%. This exception was made to give students from Sakania and Kasumbalesa an equal chance to compete for the scholarship. Tshiapona encouraged the identified students to prepare well for the upcoming selection test.
The president of the parents' committee of the Sakania pool, Mwaka Matthias, welcomed the special measure, expressing gratitude to President Tshisekedi and Governor of Haut-Katanga for considering the children of Sakania and Kasumbalesa. He urged the students to seize this opportunity, which could change their lives.
The commission responsible for sensitizing students to the Excellentia Scholarship in the Sakania pool was received by the mayor of Kasumbalesa, André Kapampa Kamwanya. The delegation, led by IPP adjoint Jean Tshiapona, presented their greetings to the mayor and discussed the program's objectives and benefits.
Mayor Kapampa praised the initiative, stating that it is a just measure that will give students from Sakania and Kasumbalesa a chance to access quality education. He encouraged all eligible candidates to take advantage of this opportunity and prepare well for the selection test.
The Excellentia Scholarship program is a significant initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By providing full scholarships to outstanding students, the program seeks to support the country's future leaders and contribute to its development. The program's impact is expected to be felt in the years to come.
