The Senegalese government's initiative to promote youth employment, the School-Enterprise Training Program (PF2E), has selected 120 young people from the Fatick region to receive training in five different trades. The selection process was completed on November 2, 2026, in Fatick, in the presence of Mamadou Diedhiou, regional head of PF2E in Fatick. The program aims to equip young people with skills in areas such as horticulture, electrical installation, and plumbing.
The 120 young people, aged between 15 and 35, will be divided into six classes of 20 people each and will undergo a 10-month training program. The five trades that have been selected for this year's program are producteur horticole, installateur d'électricité bâtiment, carreleur au sol, installateur plomberie sanitaire, and producteur piscicole. These trades were chosen during a regional development committee meeting and confirmed by the PF2E coordination.
The program, which was launched in 2018, has already shown positive results, with 16 young people currently employed in enterprises as PF2E diploma holders. According to Mamadou Diedhiou, the selection of trainees is done through a national call for applications, which allows young people to register. The selection process is then carried out with the help of the Centre académique de l'orientation scolaire et professionnelle (Caosp).
At the end of the training program, the trainees will receive professional certificates of specialty (CPS). The program aims to promote youth employment and equip young people with skills that are in demand in the labor market. The initiative has been welcomed by young people in the Fatick region, who see it as an opportunity to acquire skills and improve their employability.
The PF2E program is part of the Senegalese government's efforts to promote youth employment and reduce unemployment. The program has already benefited many young people in Senegal and is expected to continue to do so in the coming years. The regional head of PF2E in Fatick, Mamadou Diedhiou, has expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the program and its impact on young people.
The training program will be conducted over a period of 10 months, during which time the trainees will acquire practical skills in their chosen trades. The program's focus on providing young people with skills that are in demand in the labor market is expected to improve their chances of employment after completing their training.
