Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged voters in the state to prioritize the future of Abia over temporary political gratification. Speaking at the Second Session of the Seventh Synod of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, Otti emphasized the need for voters to make informed decisions. He was represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba. The governor's warning comes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Otti cautioned voters against being swayed by politicians who are seeking their support. He noted that some of these politicians are responsible for the problems his administration is currently addressing. The governor urged voters to consider the long-term implications of their political choices. He emphasized that immediate material benefits should not determine their decisions at the polls.

The governor highlighted the progress made by his administration in the first three years. He stated that the next four years, from 2027, would focus on consolidating good governance. Otti assured that his administration would continue to prioritize the development of the state. He expressed confidence that Abia State would become a point of reference in the next four years.

Otti also warned Christians to be vigilant as politicians intensify their engagements ahead of the elections. He noted that some political actors who had previously neglected the church and its members are suddenly becoming attentive for political reasons. The governor urged Christians not to be deceived by their renewed political activities.

The Bishop of Aba Ngwa North Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Nathan Kanu, commended Otti for identifying with the church and supporting its activities. He presented gifts to the governor's representative and prayed for God's blessings upon the Governor and his administration. The synod attracted several dignitaries, including the National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party, South-East zone, Ishmael Onuoha.

A guest speaker and Bishop of Ohaja/Egbema Diocese, Rt. Rev. Chidi Oparajiaku, challenged Christians to think deeply and examine issues prayerfully. He emphasized the need for Christians to go beyond merely hearing messages to responding wisely. The synod's theme, “Don’t Just Absorb It; Think It Through,” was inspired by Biblical verses contained in Acts 17:11-12.

Otti's administration has been focused on laying a solid foundation for the state's development. He assured that public funds must be used for the development of the state rather than individual religious projects. The governor's representative received the commendation and gifts on his behalf. Key projects and initiatives are underway to drive growth and development in Abia State.
