Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated the campaign committee for the re-election of Senator Lere Oyewumi, representing Osun West Senatorial District. The inauguration was done through the state's deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi. Adewusi described Oyewumi as a responsible lawmaker who has made the administration and the state proud through quality representation. Oyewumi currently serves as the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate.

During the inauguration, Adewusi charged members of the newly formed committee to work with total loyalty and commitment to secure victory for the party in the upcoming election. He emphasized the importance of 100 percent loyalty from the committee members. The governor's representative also highlighted Oyewumi's achievements, stating that he has made a significant impact in the district. Oyewumi's re-election bid is set for January 16, 2027.

Senator Oyewumi expressed his gratitude to Governor Adeleke for his leadership, which he believes has made campaigning easier for Accord Party candidates. Oyewumi described Adeleke as a pathfinder and noted that his re-election has demonstrated the love and support of the Osun people. This support, Oyewumi believes, will translate to victory for all Accord Party candidates in the general election.

Reflecting on his time in the Senate, Oyewumi mentioned that he has learned a great deal over the past three and a half years. He stated that experiences have shown him that what was initially thought to be impossible can be achieved. As a result, Oyewumi declared that he is more prepared, equipped, and determined to deliver his best to every community in the Osun West Senatorial District.

Oyewumi outlined his plans to consolidate on his achievements if re-elected. He promised that his constituents can expect more development, including better roads, improved schools and hospitals, clean water, and solar streetlights. Additionally, Oyewumi vowed to empower students, artisans, market women, farmers, and the elderly. His previous election campaign was notable for not involving monetary inducements, yet he received overwhelming support from his constituents.

Adesoye Oyetunde, Director General of the campaign committee, praised Oyewumi for his performance, stating that the senator has not disappointed his constituents. Oyetunde highlighted several of Oyewumi's achievements, including the construction of tarred roads in eight out of ten local governments in the district and the building of classrooms in every local government. He also noted Oyewumi's interventions in healthcare and farm inputs.

The inauguration of the campaign committee marks a significant step in Oyewumi's re-election bid. With the support of Governor Adeleke and the commitment of the committee members, Oyewumi aims to continue his representation of the Osun West Senatorial District. His campaign is built on a foundation of past achievements and promises of future development.
