Digital financial services provider, OPay, has explained how Nigerians can check their eligibility for the Federal Government's N50,000 monthly cash relief. The company stated that eligible customers will receive a pop-up notification on the homepage of their OPay mobile application. This notification must be clicked to access the next steps for the payment. OPay emphasized that customers who do not see the notification on their applications are not eligible for the intervention.

The fintech company also stressed that it does not determine who qualifies for the Federal Government's support. Customers seeking clarification or assistance are directed to contact the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) helpline at 07000222222. OPay warned customers against individuals and groups demanding sensitive banking information or payments in exchange for access to the intervention.

OPay cautioned that neither OPay nor its representatives would request customers' Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) or One-Time Passwords (OTPs) to process payments under the scheme. The company advised customers not to pay any agent or click unverified links. Customers can check their eligibility through the official OPay mobile application or by dialling the USSD code *955*20#.

The Federal Government has commenced disbursement of the N50,000 monthly cash support under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI). This presidential intervention aims to provide financial assistance to vulnerable households facing economic hardship. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, announced the commencement of the payments on October 30.

According to Minister Doro, qualified beneficiaries will receive N50,000 monthly to help meet essential needs and cushion the effects of rising living costs. The programme will be reviewed regularly, and the ministry is partnering with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure secure and transparent delivery of the funds. Beneficiaries will receive an SMS requesting their consent before the money is transferred directly into their bank accounts or mobile wallets.

Minister Doro listed the approved financial service providers and their respective USSD codes for checking eligibility. These include ALAT by Wema (*945*23#), MoMo PSB (*671*0#), NairaGram (*726*00#), OPay (*955*20#), and Moniepoint (*557*327#). He stressed that Nigerians do not need to complete any application process, pay a fee, or register through agents to benefit from the intervention.

The Federal Government's intervention is part of its efforts to provide direct financial support to vulnerable Nigerians through approved digital payment channels. The government warned against fraudulent messages and individuals attempting to collect money or sensitive personal and banking information from prospective beneficiaries. Nigerians are advised not to disclose their PINs or Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs) to unauthorised persons.
