Chief Eric Opah, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Abia State, has officially unveiled his deputy, Dr. Godswill Agu Egbe, at the APC state secretariat in Umuahia. Opah stated that he chose Egbe after seeking the opinions of those who have worked with him, ensuring that his running mate would not cause friction in the government. He expressed confidence that Abia State and the APC would be proud to work with Egbe.

Opah criticized some governors for allegedly inflating the number of projects executed by their administrations. He promised that if elected governor in the 2027 election, his administration would ensure transparency in reporting projects executed. Opah vowed to publish accurate figures on projects completed, rather than relying on inflated claims. This move aims to promote accountability and transparency in governance.

The Abia State Government, under Governor Alex Otti, recently claimed to have completed 414 road projects covering 864.12 kilometers across the state's 17 local government areas. However, the APC had challenged this claim, demanding evidence of the projects. Opah's comments come amid this controversy, as he seeks to differentiate his campaign from that of the incumbent administration.

Dr. Godswill Agu Egbe, in accepting his nomination, pledged to work in accordance with Opah's vision and the APC's goals. He vowed to subordinate himself to Opah and the party, ensuring a unified effort to achieve a resounding victory in the 2027 election. Egbe also expressed his commitment to championing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's agenda.

The APC state chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, expressed confidence in the Opah-Egbe ticket, stating that their combination would strengthen the party's campaign. Chukwu noted that Egbe's first name, Godswill, symbolizes his expectation that the running mate would work in accordance with the will of the people. The unveiling formalized Egbe's emergence as Opah's running mate.

Opah's campaign has focused on key issues, including governance, accountability, and economic development, as the APC prepares to challenge the incumbent administration in the 2027 Abia governorship election. The party aims to present a robust and transparent governance agenda, with Opah and Egbe at the forefront.

The Opah-Egbe ticket is set to contest the 2027 governorship election, with a focus on promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Key points of their campaign include a commitment to accurate project reporting, a unified effort to achieve a resounding victory, and a focus on governance, accountability, and economic development.
