The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, will on October 3, inaugurate two multimillion-naira projects at Comprehensive High School Ilutitun Osoro. This event is part of the activities marking the Golden Jubilee celebration of the school, which was established in 1976 by the Morubodo Community. The projects were built by the Old Students' Association to upgrade the school's facilities.
The two projects to be inaugurated include a modern gate with a restroom and reception facilities for visitors. Additionally, a well-equipped block of residential buildings will be opened to accommodate National Youth Service Corps members posted to the school. These facilities aim to restore the school's former glory and provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
According to the National President of CHS Old Students' Association, Chief Adewale Netufo, the facilities are part of mega projects conceived and executed by the association. The goal is to ensure the school has up-to-date facilities that align with its motto: 'Only the Best is Good for CHS'. The association has been working to upgrade the school's facilities to meet modern standards.
Several dignitaries are expected to attend the week-long anniversary celebrations. These include the Abodi of Ikale Land, Oba Faduyile; Majuwa of Morubodo Kingdom, Oba Ernest Adeoye Idepefo; and the Bishop of Diocese On The Coast, Rt. Revd. Seyi Pirisola. Past principals of the school will also be in attendance, highlighting the significance of the event.
As part of the celebrations, Chief Adewale Netufo led his members in an environmental sanitation exercise in the town. This activity was one of the events lined up for the week-long celebration, demonstrating the association's commitment to community development and school upkeep.
On October 3, the old students will present awards to some members and stakeholders who have contributed to the college's growth and development. The anniversary will conclude on October 4 with prayers and thanksgiving at the Ebenezer Anglican Cathedral, Ilutitun Osoro, marking the end of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
