The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has set a target of mobilising more than 500,000 women for President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign. This initiative is part of the party's broader strategy to secure a significant number of votes in the 2027 general elections. According to Seun Bosede Osamaye, chairperson of the Women Mobilisation Sub-Committee, the programme will cover all 18 local government areas in the state.

The women mobilisation programme is linked to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's target of securing one million votes for Tinubu in 2027. Osamaye discussed the proposal at a meeting in Akure with the council's director-general, Victor Olabimtan. The meeting was attended by various party officials, including the state woman leader and the sub-committee's co-chairperson, Iji Aiyeola. The committee's objective is to engage with residents in markets, homes, and communities through women leaders, traders' associations, artisans, and professional organisations.

In addition to the women mobilisation programme, the APC has scheduled ward and unit meetings across Ondo's 203 wards to encourage eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). State APC chairman Kolawole Babatunde asked ward chairpersons, polling-unit leaders, and other executives to make PVC awareness a priority during meetings and subsequent contact with residents. The party aims to translate its statewide plans into electoral participation through detailed preparation and cooperation throughout its structures.

Babatunde emphasised the importance of coordination and sustained engagement among party officials across the 18 local government areas. He argued that the governor's electoral target required a concerted effort from all party members. The APC's state woman leader and other party officials will work with Aiyedatiwa and other APC leaders to expand support for Tinubu. The women mobilisation programme is part of the party's wider presidential campaign arrangements in Ondo.

The APC in Ondo State has constituted a 228-member campaign council, with Aiyedatiwa as chairman, to organise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates. The council's membership brings together serving and former officeholders, party officials, women and youth leaders, and community representatives. Olabimtan, the council's director-general, stressed the need for cooperation among campaign officials and party stakeholders to connect the state leadership with local government, ward, and polling-unit organisations.

During the meeting, Osamaye announced Jumoke Aborode's appointment as the sub-committee's treasurer. Other participants included Iji Aiyeola, alongside the sub-committee's secretary, Adeola Finch. Tinubu received 369,924 votes in Ondo during the 2023 presidential election, while Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar polled 115,463. The APC is seeking to improve on its performance in the 2027 general elections.

The women mobilisation programme and PVC awareness campaign are critical components of the APC's strategy to secure a significant number of votes in the 2027 general elections. The party's efforts to engage with eligible voters and encourage them to collect their PVCs are expected to contribute to its electoral success. The APC's campaign council will work to expand support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.
