Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, General Superintendent of New Covenant Gospel Church (NCGC), has commended Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo for his administration's urban renewal initiatives and efforts to tackle insecurity. Omobude, a former President of the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), gave the commendation at the church's Bible Alive Believers International Convention 2026. The convention, held under the theme "Stir It Up," took place at the Peniel Convention Centre in Benin City. Omobude described Governor Okpebholo as a Christian who believes in Jesus Christ.

Omobude praised the transformation of Benin City through Okpebholo's urban renewal projects, citing the flyover at Ramat Park as a notable example. The project has eased traffic congestion and made movement around the city more convenient. This was particularly evident during the convention, as members of the church and other participants found it easier to travel to and from the venue. The cleric noted that navigating Ikpoba Hill, a route to the convention venue, was previously difficult but has become more manageable.

The cleric also commended Okpebholo's efforts to tackle crime, emphasizing that large gatherings such as the convention require a secure environment. Omobude expressed gratitude for the governor's initiatives, stating that they have improved residents' sense of safety. He prayed for the governor's continued protection and guidance, attributing his appointment to divine will.

During the convention, Omobude appealed to Governor Okpebholo to extend urban renewal and infrastructure projects to Ohovbe, the community hosting the church. The community is facing serious erosion challenges, and Omobude urged the state government to assess the affected area and determine the necessary intervention. He requested that officials be sent to evaluate the situation and provide assistance.

In response, Governor Okpebholo called on the church and residents of Edo State to pray for his administration. He emphasized that the fight against cultism, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality requires both security measures and spiritual support. Okpebholo assured residents that his administration would sustain its efforts until the state was safe and free from crime.

Governor Okpebholo expressed his appreciation for the church's prayers, stating that the work being done in the state is significant. He vowed to continue fighting against crime, undeterred by challenges. Okpebholo emphasized the importance of spiritual backing in the fight against criminality.

The Bible Alive Believers International Convention 2026, held at the Peniel Convention Centre, brought together participants from various backgrounds.
