Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering on the mandate given by the people of Edo State. During visits to party members in Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas, Okpebholo assured that his administration will continue to work towards promoting the state's development. The visits were part of efforts to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the January 2027 general election.
The governor, accompanied by APC leaders and top government officials, visited several locations to interact with party faithful and mobilise support for the party's candidates in the forthcoming elections. In Egor Local Government Area, the team visited Ogida Barracks Police Training School and the Textile Mill, where party members from the 10 wards participated in the engagement. The governor also visited Garrick Memorial College, Edokpolor Grammar School, and Uwa Primary School in Oredo Local Government Area.
Okpebholo thanked the people of Egor and Oredo for their support and votes for the APC candidate in the recently concluded local government elections. He urged them to sustain the support in the 2027 general election by voting for APC candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives, Senate, and Edo State House of Assembly across the state's three senatorial districts. The governor expressed optimism that the party would deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027.
The governor addressed party members and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the development of the state. He noted that the turn out in all the places visited in Egor and Oredo, despite the rain, spoke volumes of the love for the party and all its candidates in the general election, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Okpebholo emphasized that his administration would work according to the mandate Edo people gave to them, focusing on the growth and development of the state and the party.
On the condition of roads across the state, Governor Okpebholo said his administration was working to repair bad roads inherited from previous governments and ensure that roads were motorable. He acknowledged that the bad roads in the state did not happen overnight but assured that his administration was working to fix them. The governor attributed the poor state of the roads to previous administrations but emphasized his commitment to making them motorable.
The Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, and the Edo APC Chairman, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, also appealed to party members for their continued support. Idahosa urged them to vote for APC candidates in the 2027 general election to ensure the party's victory. Tenebe commended party members for their support and urged them to support Okpebholo in his efforts to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. He noted that the party had previously garnered 2,158,600 votes in the local government elections, making the 2.5 million votes achievable.
The chairmen of Egor and Oredo Local Government Councils, Hon. Osaro Eribo and Hon. Gabriel Iduseri, respectively, also appealed to residents to sustain their support for the APC, its candidates, and President Tinubu in the 2027 general election. The governor's efforts to strengthen the party and deliver on the people's mandate have been met with enthusiasm from party members, who are optimistic about the party's chances in the upcoming elections.
