Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called for prayers for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections. Abiodun made this appeal at an interfaith prayer organised by the APC Campaign Council in the state, tagged “Victory with God”. The event brought together Christians and Muslims to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

The governor emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance, citing biblical teachings on prayer and faith. He reflected on his political journey in Ogun State, recalling the challenges surrounding his emergence as governor in 2018. Abiodun described that period as “rancorous” and “turbulent”, saying his experience had reinforced his belief that political power ultimately remained subject to God.

Abiodun expressed gratitude for the achievements of his administration over the past seven and a half years, including Ogun’s role as the “heartbeat of the economy” of Nigeria. He also highlighted the state’s transition process, saying God had enabled Ogun to witness the first peaceful transition between a sitting governor and an incoming governor.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who is seeking to become Ogun State governor, also spoke at the event, expressing confidence that the APC would secure victory in the forthcoming election. Adeola said he expected divine intervention to clear the party’s path to victory without a contest, adding that he believed the APC would emerge victorious.

Adeola stated that he was confident that the APC would secure victory on January 16, 2027, and that God would support him to become the seventh Executive Governor of Ogun State. He added that political opponents were currently working to organise themselves ahead of the election, but maintained that the APC would emerge victorious.

The prayer meeting brought together APC leaders, supporters, and religious faithful as the party stepped up preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle in Ogun State. Dignitaries present at the occasion included the state governor, former governor Aaremo Olusegun Osoba, Speaker of Ogun state House of Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the state party chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.

The event, according to Abiodun, was intended to place God at the centre of the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections. He urged party members to continue to seek divine guidance, saying “My prayer is that that same God that has started this for us, He will not only complete it but He will perfect it in Jesus mighty name.”
