The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hajia Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, recently hosted a grand retirement reception for DST Anifat Abiodun Bello, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic. The event, held in Obantoko, Abeokuta, was attended by various dignitaries, including the wife of the Ogun governorship candidate, Yeye Adenike Adebutu, and Ogun PDP Chairman, Dr Abayomi Tella.
During the reception, Sowunmi-Kolapo commended the retired traffic warden, popularly known as Aunty Anifat, for her professionalism, discipline, resilience, and dedication to traffic management during her years of service with the Ogun State Police Command. She described Bello's "infectious commitment to duty" as rare and worthy of emulation.
Sowunmi-Kolapo presented a cheque of N500,000 to Bello, saying the honour was the beginning of greater things to happen in the retired officer's life. She urged other security agents and workers to emulate Bello's outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force. The PDP deputy governorship candidate also assured workers in Ogun State of rewarding welfare packages once the government of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu comes on board.
The PDP governorship candidate's wife, Yeye Adenike Adebutu, showered more encomiums on the retired officer, announcing another N500,000 cash support for her. She said Bello would be part of the Adebutu administration once he is voted into power in 2027.
Ogun PDP Chairman, Abayomi Tella, also spoke at the event, saying Mrs Bello's selflessness and passion for other people were commendable and should be emulated by all. He thanked Sowunmi-Kolapo for celebrating the retired officer, adding that Bello's good work had earned her positive recognition.
The reception ceremony was attended by various leaders of the party at different levels and religious leaders in Egbaland. They all paid glowing tributes to Bello in appreciation of her diligent service.
Sowunmi-Kolapo promised that hard work would pay under the Adebutu administration, and that civil servants would always smile home. She said the suffering of workers in Ogun State for the past eight years would be a thing of the past when the PDP comes on board.
