Hundreds of residents, party faithful, and community leaders gathered in Obantoko communities, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, to declare their support for the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu. The meeting, attended by PDP state leaders, ward structures, and the PDP House of Representatives candidate, Dele Olaleye, turned into an endorsement ceremony for Adebutu's governorship bid. Residents promised to deliver the highest votes for Adebutu in Odeda Local Government and Ogun State.
The community leaders and residents see Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, as one of them, not a distant politician. They praised her philanthropic gestures, which have won the love of the communities. The Chairman of PDP, Obantoko Ward, Ezekiel Adeleye, said Kolapo's decision to reside in the community, unlike other politicians, was proof of her sincerity and commitment to grassroots development.
The Deputy State Chairman of PDP, Abiodun Ogunremi, reminded the gathering of Obantoko's history as a stronghold of the PDP. He disclosed that Obantoko performed well during the last elections and massively delivered for the PDP. Ogunremi called on the people to resist any plot by some individuals to impose strangers on them and not to allow them to intimidate them during the poll.
Ogunremi enumerated some of the feasible achievements of Adebutu, even when he didn't have any political intention. He stated that Adebutu's father had empowered people, and no fewer than 700 transformers had been distributed by Adebutu to several communities across Ogun. Ogunremi urged the people to vote for Adebutu, saying poverty would end and there would be fullness of good governance once he is voted as governor.
PDP Board of Trustees member, Fasiu Bakenne, also urged residents to resist intimidation and vote massively for the PDP across board. The PDP House of Assembly candidate in 2023, O. Kenny, reminded the people of Adebutu's promise to restore local government autonomy, noting that uneven development awaits local communities with council autonomy.
Dele Olaleye, PDP House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, stressed that only an Adebutu government would guarantee real local government autonomy in Ogun. He noted that the people's votes would make the effort by Adebutu to return local government autonomy in Ogun a reality.
Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo addressed the gathering, reminding them of Adebutu's philanthropy without public funds. She urged the people to mobilize their families, friends, neighbours, co-workers, and all other eligible voters to vote Adebutu, Dele Olaleye, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and other candidates of the PDP in the 2027 polls. Kolapo chorused the campaign mantra of the PDP, "ITURA TIDE," which means "relief has come."
