Residents and party loyalists from various communities in Obantoko, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, gathered to declare their support for the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, for the 2027 election. The meeting, attended by PDP state leaders, ward structures, and the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, Dele Olaleye, turned into an endorsement ceremony for Adebutu's governorship bid.
The communities, including American Junction, Asalu, Akete, Akinyele, Akepe Oluwa, Kangudu, and others, vowed to deliver the highest votes for Adebutu in Odeda Local Government and Ogun State at large. They praised Kolapo for choosing to live among them, showcasing her commitment to grassroots development. The residents see Kolapo as a neighbor and a big-hearted mother whose philanthropic gestures have won their love.
Ezekiel Adeleye, Chairman of PDP, Obantoko Ward, highlighted Kolapo's kind gestures, including providing funds to repair their transformer. He assured Kolapo that the community would vote for her and Adebutu. Abiodun Ogunremi, Deputy State Chairman of PDP, reminded the gathering of Obantoko's history as a stronghold of the PDP and encouraged them to prove their love for the party again.
Ogunremi called on the people to resist plots by individuals to impose strangers on them and emphasized that Adebutu's governorship would bring good governance and an end to poverty. He cited Adebutu's distribution of 700 transformers to several communities across Ogun as an example of his philanthropic efforts.
Fasiu Bakenne, PDP Board of Trustees member, and O. Kenny, PDP House of Assembly candidate in 2023, urged residents to resist intimidation and vote massively for the PDP. Kenny noted that Adebutu's promise to restore local government autonomy would bring uneven development to local communities. Dele Olaleye stressed that only an Adebutu government would guarantee real local government autonomy in Ogun.
Kolapo, in her address, reminded the people of Adebutu's philanthropy without public funds and urged them to mobilize eligible voters to vote for Adebutu and other PDP candidates in the 2027 polls. She emphasized the importance of protecting their votes and promised security provisions.
Kolapo echoed the PDP campaign mantra, "ITURA TIDE," meaning "relief has come," which sent the crowd into frenzy. She encouraged the people to vote for Dele Olaleye, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and Adebutu as governor, emphasizing that their votes would make a difference.
