Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged Nigerians to adopt essential values such as sacrifice, courage, patriotism, and resilience to build a nation that reflects their collective aspirations. He made this call during the 66th Independence Thanksgiving Service held at Living Faith Church in Asaba. Oborevwori emphasized the importance of these values in nation-building and encouraged present and future generations to remain committed to this task.
Oborevwori paid tribute to Nigeria's founding fathers for their sacrifices and contributions to the country's independence. He called on Nigerians to demonstrate their love for the country by praying for its peace and prosperity. The Governor highlighted the significance of the Church's continued intercession for Nigeria, stating that it remained critical to the nation's progress. He encouraged Nigerians not to relent in prayer, citing the biblical injunction to "pray without ceasing."
The Governor emphasized the importance of wisdom in governance and leadership, urging public servants and politicians to prioritize service to the people. He reminded them that their positions were held in trust for the people and that they would ultimately give account of their stewardship to God. Oborevwori stressed that public officials must discharge their responsibilities with integrity and commitment to the common good.

He charged public servants, politicians, and other leaders to make service to the people their top priority. The Governor cited the country's 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule as a notable achievement, despite encountering bumps and twists along the way. He expressed optimism about the country's future, stating that it remained promising and exciting. Oborevwori also acknowledged the role of the Church in sustaining peace and stability in the country through prayers.
Pastor Samuel Johns, the Presiding Pastor of Living Faith Church, Ibusa Road Branch, Asaba, urged Nigerians to remain committed to the country, stressing that nation-building required faith, patriotism, and collective responsibility. He identified civic responsibility, sacrifice, meaningful contribution, love for the nation, and positive impact on communities as key responsibilities of citizens.
The thanksgiving service was attended by several notable figures, including the Governor's wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, President of the Delta State Customary Court, Justice Catherine Ojugbana-Oritsedere, and Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi. The event was a celebration of Nigeria's independence and a call to action for Nigerians to work together towards a better future.
