The Obidient Movement has issued a stern warning to Nigerian politicians, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies against rigging the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on Tuesday, the movement's Media and Communications Directorate expressed concern over Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike's, admission that the G5 governors deliberately stopped Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, from winning Rivers State in the 2023 presidential poll.
Wike's comments, made during an interview on TVC Journalists' Hangout on Monday, revealed that the G5 governors had a strategy to prevent Obi from winning in Rivers State, citing concerns that his victory would send a wrong signal. The Obidient Movement described Wike's admission as a "treasonable offence" against the Nigerian people and a reconfirmation of their suspicions about the 2023 election outcome.
The movement has threatened that Nigerians will enforce a "rig-and-die" mantra in the 2027 elections, warning Wike and other politicians not to attempt to manipulate results. They have also accused INEC of organizing a "charade" since 2019 and acting as an appendage of the ruling APC. The group called on INEC to return to its constitutional responsibility of organizing credible elections.
The Obidient Movement also warned security agencies not to intimidate voters or aid rigging, stressing that their duty is to protect voters and the democratic process. They declared that in 2027, Nigerians "are not going to court, and will not accept results written by Tinubu, Wike, and a compromised INEC."
The movement advised political thugs to reject being used by politicians, saying they would no longer be needed after the election. They emphasized that the 2027 election must be decided by voters at the polling units, not by politicians in private rooms.
The Obidient Movement's statement titled "Wike's Open Confession to Election Manipulation and Rigging on TVC: Write Your Will Now If You Are Planning to Manipulate 2027 Results" described Wike's bragging on TVC as "jarring" and a "perpetual nuisance." They invited Wike and his co-conspirators to make sure they write their will before the 2027 elections.
The group concluded that Nigerians' peaceful nature should not be mistaken for weakness, warning that any manipulation or attempted manipulation of the people's will would be met with forceful resistance.
