Ahead of the 2027 general election, Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that nobody has a monopoly on rascality. He made this statement during a discussion on Global Digital Town on Sunday. Obi emphasized the importance of Nigerians coming out to participate in the election, stressing that they want leaders who are voted for by them, not imposed.

Obi warned thugs used for disrupting elections to be cautious, stating that they are fewer in number compared to registered voters. He encouraged Nigerians, particularly the youth, to stand firm and protect their votes, as well as reject money given to them by those seeking to influence their decisions. According to Obi, the target of such actions is to instill fear and buy their future.

Obi explained that accepting money from those seeking to influence voters actually denies them access to essential services like healthcare and education. He argued that the money used for such purposes could have been used to improve the country's infrastructure, healthcare, and education systems. Obi urged Nigerians not to collect such money, emphasizing that it would be a sacrifice of their future and that of their children.

The former Anambra governor lamented that at 66, Nigeria remains underdeveloped, with the highest number of poor people living in the nation and out-of-school children. He expressed his commitment to changing this narrative and assured the youth, particularly GENZ's, of his dedication to their future. Obi urged them to support his efforts, emphasizing that it is crucial for creating a better society.

Obi announced that he would work with other stakeholders to mobilize voters for the election through polling unit agents. He emphasized that every polling agent would be working within their own space and polling booth, and that their efforts would be crucial in mobilizing voters. Obi called for more collaboration, stating that all Nigerians are contesting the election, and that he is only the forefront figure.

According to Obi, the hardship and insecurity in the country affect everyone, irrespective of tribe or religion. He noted that no tribe buys bread or food cheaper than others, emphasizing that the challenges facing the country are universal. Obi reiterated his commitment to creating a better society and urged Nigerians to join him in this effort.

Obi concluded by emphasizing that the 2027 election presents an opportunity for Nigerians to choose their leaders and create a better future for themselves. He urged everyone to come out and participate in the election, stressing that collective action is necessary for creating positive change.
