The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its national elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with 7,163 delegates expected to cast their votes. The elections cover nine national executive positions, with 46 candidates on the final ballot. A total of 46 candidates have made it to the final ballot, following the withdrawal of National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha from the National Organiser race.

For the National Chairperson position, four candidates are contesting: John Boadu, Sammy Crabbe, Paul Afoko, and Boakye Agyarko. The Vice-Chairpersons position has 17 candidates, with the first three successful candidates to become First, Second, and Third Vice-Chairpersons. The General Secretary position has four candidates: Sylvester Tetteh, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Justin Frimpong Kodua, and Dr Charles Dwamena.

The National Treasurer position has four candidates: Hajia Ruka Ahmed, Alfred Kojo Thompson, Tahiru Issahaku, and Moomin Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah. The National Organiser position has seven candidates, including Kwame Prempeh, Daniel Agyenim Boateng, and Archibald Gamor Korletey. The National Youth Organiser position has six candidates, including Alfred Kumi Ababio, Vera Oye, and Bram-Larbi Michael Osei Boateng.

The National Women’s Organiser position has two candidates: Hajia Safia Mohammed and Mavis Hawa Koomson. The National Nasara Organiser position has six candidates, including Mohammed Ali Suraj, Issaka Muazo Kunata, and Awal Mohammed Alhaji. The National Communications Director position has only one candidate, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, following the withdrawal of Evans Kodom.

The NPP has put in place measures to ensure a smooth electoral process, with the Electoral Commission supervising the elections. The party has also provided heavy security at the Baba Yara Stadium, with 3,000-4,000 police officers handling security and traffic in Kumasi. The elections are seen as a crucial step towards the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.
