The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has announced that its efforts to intensify inspections and monitoring of markets and places where meat and its products are sold have led to the seizure of approximately 175 tons of meat and its products that violate health regulations. This crackdown was carried out during September across various governorates in Egypt. The ministry's goal is to protect public health and prevent practices that could harm food safety.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, a total of 826 cases were filed against violators. The campaigns were conducted in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure that only safe and healthy food products reach consumers. The seized products included various types of meat and meat products that were either unfit for human consumption or did not meet health and veterinary requirements.

Dr. Hamed Al-Aqnass, head of the General Veterinary Services Authority, stated that the campaigns resulted in the seizure of 174 tons and 957 kilograms of meat and its products. Of this amount, 78,302 kilograms were unfit for human consumption, 44,543 kilograms were fit but did not meet health requirements, and 52,112 kilograms were being held pending inspection. Dr. Al-Aqnass emphasized that the campaigns will continue intensively across Egypt, with no tolerance for violations that could compromise food safety or public health. He stressed the importance of adhering to health regulations in slaughterhouses and places where meat and its products are sold or traded.

The Ministry of Agriculture has urged citizens to purchase meat and its products from authorized outlets and trusted shops, ensuring that products have proper seals and appear wholesome.
