Rev. Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Northern Christian Association, has encouraged Christians in Northern Nigeria to invest in the ongoing Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering. He made the call at a media parley in Kaduna, emphasizing that religious considerations should not influence investment decisions. Hayab stated that business has no religion, and what Dangote is selling is not Islam, but shares that can bring money.

Hayab urged Christian leaders to educate their members on investment and the importance of owning assets that can help families build wealth and provide for future generations. He suggested that every Christian should consider buying shares for their children and grandchildren as part of long-term financial planning. According to Hayab, if he had his way, every Christian should have 10 shares in the Dangote IPO.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery public offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at N525 per share, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares valued at N5,250. The offer opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026. Hayab encouraged Christians to take advantage of this investment opportunity, which can help them build wealth and secure their families' future.

Hayab emphasized the need for Nigerians to develop a culture of investment rather than relying solely on salaries and other sources of earned income. He argued that increased domestic ownership of Nigerian businesses would strengthen the economy and urged citizens to seek opportunities to acquire stakes in legitimate enterprises. According to Hayab, the economy of Nigeria will grow faster if all Nigerians have a stake in the investment that is in Nigeria.

Hayab disclosed that he had directed NCA members to create awareness about the Dangote IPO in churches across the region. He stated that they started creating awareness last Sunday and will continue to do so until the offer closes on October 13. Hayab also appealed for an extension of the offer period, arguing that public awareness of the IPO was only beginning to gain momentum.

Hayab urged investors to separate business from politics, noting that political administrations can change while businesses can continue operating. He encouraged northern Christians to participate in businesses established by entrepreneurs from the region, noting that Dangote is from Northern Nigeria. According to Hayab, this can help promote economic growth and development in the region.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO has generated significant interest, with President William Ruto of Kenya recently visiting the refinery and stating that a similar project in Kenya will create 60,000 jobs. A report also revealed that Dangote supplied more petrol than importers in August. With the offer set to close on October 13, investors are expected to make their decisions quickly.
