Leaders from Nigeria's North Central region have launched the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027. This initiative aims to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates across the region. The movement was launched at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, addressed the inaugural meeting, stating that the movement's principal objective was to canvass support and mobilise a massive turnout for President Tinubu in the 2027 election. He commended Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono for his initiative and contribution towards bringing the forum to fruition. The North Central region's objective is to deliver the highest regional vote total for the President.

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, commended the initiative, describing it as a timely and necessary political vehicle. He praised Senator George Akume and Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono for their roles in establishing the movement. Governor Sule expressed confidence that the region would deliver the highest number of votes for the President and other candidates contesting under the APC platform.

The National Coordinator of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, Arc. S.T. Echono, said the conversation was no longer simply about whether President Tinubu would win the North Central. Instead, it was about the region positioning itself to deliver the highest number of votes to the President in the 2027 election. Echono commended Senator George Akume and other critical stakeholders across the region for their support.

The Minister of Information, Hon. Mohammed Idris Malagi, described the movement as the first of its kind. He commended Arc. Echono for his initiative and assured stakeholders that the necessary structures would be put in place to support the movement's mobilisation efforts. The forum adopted four key resolutions aimed at strengthening its mobilisation, communication, coordination, and reconciliation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting resolved to intensify electoral mobilisation and support for President Tinubu in 2027, with the stated objective of delivering the region's highest vote total. A grand rally will be organised in Lafia, Nasarawa State, alongside a medical outreach programme and town hall meetings across the region. The forum also established a Reconciliation Committee to work alongside the National Chairman, the SGF, and the NWC in addressing internal grievances within the party.

The stakeholders renewed their commitment to strengthening grassroots engagement, improving coordination among party leaders, and mobilising support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general election. The movement is expected to serve as a formidable launchpad and strategic mobilisation platform, bringing together political leaders, grassroots actors, and other stakeholders across the North Central under a shared vision and common purpose.
