NMB Bank Plc has launched a promotional campaign aimed at attracting deposits from Tanzania's cashew, mining, and tourism sectors. The initiative, dubbed 'Bonge la Mpango – Weka Ushinde 2026,' will run from November 2026 to January 2027 and offers prizes to businesses, individuals, and agricultural cooperative societies that channel their earnings through the lender. The campaign targets cash flows generated during the 2026/27 cashew marketing season and the busy tourism period.
The campaign offers 20 motorcycles to Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (Amcos), monthly cash prizes, and three vehicles, including one designed for tourist transportation. NMB Head of Sales and Branch Network, Mr. Donatus Richard, launched the campaign on November 3, 2026, and urged Tanzanians across different economic sectors to channel their earnings through the bank to qualify for the draws. To qualify for the weekly prizes, customers must deposit money into their NMB accounts and maintain the balance for seven days.
Customers who maintain their deposits for a month will also qualify for monthly draws, with 10 winners each receiving Sh500,000. The campaign coincides with important business periods for several sectors, including the cashew nut and tourism industries. NMB Chief Retail Banking, Mr. Filbert Mponzi, said that for tourism stakeholders, this is the visitor season, while mining activities and businesses in the sector are also thriving.
Mr. Mponzi urged businesses and individuals to use the campaign as an opportunity to build savings while participating in the bank's promotional draws. He emphasized that when money comes in, it is the right time to protect it, and NMB is a safe place to keep those earnings. The campaign aims to encourage customers to retain more of their earnings in formal banking accounts.
Under the initiative, Amcos that channel more than 60 percent of their proceeds from the 2026/27 cashew marketing season through NMB accounts will qualify for a chance to win motorcycles. This move is expected to boost the bank's savings growth and increase its customer base. The campaign is part of NMB's efforts to expand its services and promote financial inclusion in Tanzania.
The bank's savings drive is also expected to benefit the local economy by encouraging businesses and individuals to keep their earnings in formal banking accounts. This will help to increase the bank's deposits and provide more funds for lending to other customers. The campaign is a strategic move by NMB to strengthen its position in the Tanzanian banking sector.
The 'Bonge la Mpango – Weka Ushinde 2026' campaign is a significant initiative by NMB Bank Plc to attract deposits from key sectors of the Tanzanian economy. The campaign's prizes and incentives are designed to encourage customers to save and participate in the bank's promotional draws. By targeting the cashew, mining, and tourism sectors, NMB aims to increase its savings growth and expand its customer base.
